Dusty Pierpoint for State Representative

Recent events have made it clear people want change and I have the experience working with community groups and neighboring jurisdictions to find common sense solutions to difficult problems.  I worked and live in the most diverse community in Thurston County most of my life and have had success in working through difficult situations.

The Issues

Our family’s safety is priority. Stop minimizing property crime and hold violent offenders accountable. Our law enforcement should be dealing with crime and not expected to deal with homelessness, drug addiction and mental illness. These issues should be supported by experts in those fields. We need to get the mentally ill out of our jails and into proper treatment.

Reduce excessive regulations and fees so small businesses can employ more of our neighbors with good paying jobs.  Small businesses and their employees support our local economy.

Defend pensions during the upcoming budget crisis.

The heroes who have served in the military should have expanded locations providing services and assistance.  Veterans and their families make up a large part of our community and they have earned our support.

Homeless individuals need help, we must link accountability and treatment, based on the therapeutic courts model, to address underlying conditions like joblessness, addiction, and mental illness.  It is not compassionate to keep the failing policies that have made people uncomfortable visiting our cities and enjoying public spaces.  Businesses and those they employ lose out when consumers refuse to visit.
